Sean C. Burlingham, PE SI
Special Inspector No.2000
A (perhaps becoming rare) MultiStory Design- Qualified Non-Provisional Special Inspector
- Professional Engineer
- Forensic Engineer
- Expert Witness
- Litigation Investigator
- Innovative Solutions
After working as an Engineer Intern for various government contractors since 1989 (primarily: Pan Am World Services, the US Air Force at Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Base Support, and NASA at Kennedy Space Center), in 1993 Burlingham began his six-years of employment (mentorship) in the private practice of Structural Engineering under Dr. Val Hausner, and was running that office by 1997. Upon Val's well-deserved retirement in 1999, after his long and storied ten years (!) of various internships and mentorships, Burlingham started this Firm. He hit the ground running, enjoying the immediate interest and response of Developers, Owners, and Builders such as Towne Realty and various Florida County Public Schools.
We are grateful to our Clients who give us the opportunity and trust required to demonstrate the ability to provide our unique and effective services for large structural design projects and Special Inspection; and for non-design assignments such as Expert Witness and Testimony, Forensic Failure Analysis, Water Intrusion, and Forensic Investigations, for a broad variety of projects, clients, and needs.
Developers, Owners, Attorneys, and Insurance Adjusters turn to Burlingham for a competent Professional Engineer and Expert Witness with a long and proven history of success with large structural design and Expert Witness Investigations. Many of our major clients today are repeat customers, with whom we have worked with since 1993 - representing over 30 years of mutual trust and success.
To our esteemed clients: Thank you! We could not exist without you.

Hurricane Report Card
I have lost count of how many multistory building projects for which we provided the Structural Design and the Inspection of the structural construction.
I did a quick tally of those in Brevard County - that I can remember at the time of this (2011) writing - that were also built when the unusual 2004 hurricane season bore down upon us: Hurricanes Charley, Frances, and Jeanne, and also the 2005 Hurricane Wilma.
Number of Multistory Buildings in Brevard County that we designed, and that felt the winds of the 2004 and 2005 hurricanes:
- 35 Two-Story Buildings
- 9 Three-Story Buildings
- 2 Four-Story Buildings
- 39 Five-Story Buildings
- 3 Seven-Story Buildings
- 3 Eight-Story Buildings
- 2 Nine-Story Buildings
- 4 Ten-Story Buildings
- 3 Twelve-Story Buildings
- 1 Thirteen-Story Building
Not one of them experienced any structural damage of any kind. In Florida the biggest technical design problem is making an economical structure resistant to powerful winds. This is our specialty.
